You may come across the message “***** FATAL: Failed to download updatenow.static from server: The system cannot update the /var/cpanel/sysinfo.config file. at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/GenSysInfo.pm line 115.” while running upcp script on the cPanel server

First of all, lets get the reason cleared for this failure. Basically, it’s due to RPM corrupt databases

1. Make a Directory under root to store the old RPM databases –
    mkdir /root/old_rpm_dbs/

2. Now move the original RPMs to the newly created folder –
    mv /var/lib/rpm/__db* /root/old_rpm_dbs/

3. The final step is to rebuilt the RPM databases which can be done using following commands –
    rpm –rebuilddb

That’s it!

Re-run the cPanel update script as below and you will notice that the earlier error is fixed –

/scripts/upcp –force

The cPanel update should proceed without any errors.
